Dog Training in Action

Practical online classes that turn dog training theory into real-life confidence

Most dog training advice tells you what to do, but not when to actually do it… or how to respond when things don’t go to plan. These classes bridge that gap: interactive sessions designed to move you from knowing the right things to actually doing them.

These classes are designed for dog guardians who want practical tools they can use straight away to enjoy everyday life with their dog; not for people who want to absorb more theory.

Speaking Up For Your Dog

For people who know what they should have said… five minutes after the moment has passed.

Know what to say before the moment arrives. A stranger reaches down to pet your dog without asking. An off-lead dog comes charging over. Someone offers advice you didn’t ask for. You say nothing, or you fumble, and spend the rest of the day replaying what you should have said.

In this class, we’ll work through the situation that trips you up the most. We’ll explore a simple framework for responding effectively, and you’ll leave with your own ready-made script so that next time, you know what to say.

Includes:

  • A personalised script for tricky situations
  • A transferable framework you can apply beyond the class
  • One week replay access

Anna really helped me with quite an unusual, complex situation. I was dogsitting a new dog, and it turns out that this dog had much greater needs than I'd expected. I was really stuck as I am not experienced or confident with puppies, so I reached out to Anna for help. I was in the middle of the countryside, so she offered support remotely. I described the various problems, and Anna asked lots of questions about the environment, food, routines, behaviour etc. She was quickly able to give me an understanding of why the dog was likely to be behaving in that way, which made so much sense. She was able to come up with a set of short term solutions to support the dog, and also improve my experience while there so that I would be less stressed. The suggestions had to be limited to what I could find around the house, and what I could achieve over this short stay, but they really did make a difference. She checked in a few days later, and proposed some further adaptations and activities as needed. She really helped me to work through quite a challenging situation, and to bond with a very cute but very chaotic puppy! I had a really positive experience with Mindful Pups, and was amazed how much could be achieved remotely, and over such a short period of time. I would highly recommend Mindful Pups. Thank you!

So patient and understanding. Anna explained what was happening with our pup in a way that was very easy to understand and calming our worries. Anna left us with a bunch of tools to work with and although it’s only been a short amount of time the results have been really promising.

Anna is helping me build confidence and a trusting relationship with my new rescue. Anna's approach is holistic and tailored - to both the dog and the human! My nervous dog felt comfortable around her within minutes. A good trainer is a good tutor, and Anna's teaching skills are excellent. Her communication is timely and well-explained - with the right amount of encouragement and reassurance! The tools/resources she provides are great learning materials too.

I can't recommend Mindful Pups Training enough! Their approach is both compassionate and effective, focusing on positive reinforcement and clear communication. I noticed such a difference in my pet's behavior after just a few sessions. Anna tailored the training to meet our specific needs. It's clear Anna truly care about animals and their well-being. Whether you're addressing behavioral issues or just looking to strengthen the bond with your pet, this is the place to go!

Wonderful experience with Anna! She was able to tailor our training to my nervous rescue dog's needs. I needed help with barking at the door / noises outside. She was kind, patient, asked questions and observed before she made an assessment which we put into practice. She also wrote up tailored homework for me and my dog: clear and easy to follow at home. I am happy to report that we no longer have the issue and have had others surprised at his ability to self comfort without my intervention 😊 I also learnt so much more about understanding dog behavior, threshold, and encouraging natural relaxation. all things I am able to apply elsewhere, being able to see things from my dog's POV. 10/10 thank you so much!

When Things Go Sideways

For people who want to be more prepared for those tricky moments that catch you off-guard.

You know that feeling: your dog does something unexpected, and before you’ve had time to think, you’ve already reacted in a way you’re not proud of. Or you freeze completely. Either way, you’re back to square one.

In this class, we’ll explore the if/then planning model, a simple framework for thinking through tricky situations before they happen, so you can respond calmly and consistently when they do. We’ll work through real scenarios that are relevant to your own dog, and you’ll leave with a personalised plan you can use straight away.

Includes:

  • Personalised if/then plan you build during the class
  • A transferable skill you can apply to any situation
  • One week replay access

Is an online class right for me?

These classes are for dog guardians who are ready to move from knowing what they should do, to actually doing it. If you’re someone who learns by trying things, making mistakes, and building on them, you’ll fit right in. Expect to contribute in the chat, work through exercises, and optionally practise live.

This probably isn’t for you if you’re looking to absorb dog training theory, or if you want a comprehensive training programme that covers everything. These classes are designed to build specific, transferable skills you can apply across many situations, not to be your sole source of dog training knowledge.

What will I learn?

Practical skills you can use straight away, not more information to file away and forget. I’ll help you build durable habits that hold up in real life, not just in theory; and skills that apply across many different situations, not just the ones we cover in class. The goal is to make you a more confident, capable dog guardian across the board.

What’s your approach to training?

All classes are grounded in force-free, evidence-based methods. This is a space built on those principles, and it’s not a place to debate training methodology. If that’s not aligned with where you are right now, these classes aren’t the right fit.

How big are classes?

No more than 15 participants, which keeps things interactive, and leaves room for live coaching and practice during the session.

What if I miss the live session?

The class will be recorded and available to watch back for one week after the live class. You’ll receive the replay link by email. After one week the recording expires, so make sure you set aside time to watch it back if you can’t attend live. The live class is where the real learning happens though; you’ll get more out of participating than watching back alone.

What do I need to prepare?

Before the session, take your dog out to toilet and have a long-lasting chew on hand in case they get restless (a frozen Kong, yak chew, or licki mat works well). A stable internet connection and somewhere you can focus will help you get the most out of the class. If you have any specific access needs, please let me know.

I’d love to see a class on a specific topic: can I suggest it?

Please do. If there’s something you want covered, I want to hear about it. Get in touch and let me know.
